A highly motivated and reliable Senior Product Designer. My experience includes working with the UK's online genealogy service Findmypast (hosting billions of searchable historical records) and contributing to the success of global travel giant Skyscanner and Stuart a leading last-mile logistics platform.
I'm based in Perth, Scotland but with extensive experience in hybrid and fully remote work, collaborating with teams worldwide.
As well as being an Individual Contributor I previously held a Line Manager position when working at Skyscanner, helping designers with their own career development and being responsible for submitting ratings and presenting to more senior managers at calibration sessions.
The role of a line manger involved gathering feedback and submitting evidence to support their ratings and any potential promotion requests. When the ratings are challenged you need to be able to back it up with clear evidence and hold your ground to do what is best for your reports.
One of the best parts of being a manger was supporting your colleagues and assisting them with any personal concerns or issues that may occur, from their own personal wellbeing to onboarding back to work when returning from maternity leave. This was a role I loved and want to return to in the future.
Before joining Findmypast, Stuart and Skyscanner I worked at a number of different companies and agencies. Mostly designing websites, branding, email campaigns to full e-commerce experiences. Working with a range of different clients such as Santander, Scottish Provident, Scottish Power and Derby County FC.
When I'm not working I love getting outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, wild swimming and camping are my passions. I bought an imported Toyota Alphard from Japan to carry all my kit. It's the first vehicle that I have had that I just enjoy driving, I get in and just go for a drive around the hills, coast and beaches of Scotland and beyond. I've even started an Instagram account for my van and outdoor adventures!
